1,018 Police Officers Promoted in Negros Island

BACOLOD CITY— A total of 1,018 police officers in Negros Island were promoted to the next rank during a simultaneous nationwide ceremony for oath-taking, donning, and pinning of ranks held yesterday.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) recorded the highest number of promotees with 527 personnel, followed by 274 officers at the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo) and 217 officers at the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

At the BCPO Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, led the ceremony for the city police force’s second-level uniformed personnel.

Among the 217 BCPO promotees were 208 police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) and nine police commissioned officers (PCOs).

The newly promoted PCOs included Police Major Rondyl Tapang, Police Captains Ramie Sayson and Jay-r Reyes, and Police Lieutenants Rey Julius Betio, Meller Dionio, Floredith Garinganao, Rodolfo Lopez Jr., Raphael Palacios, and Geovanne Timbas.

For PNCOs, the breakdown included:

  • 11 promoted from Police Chief Master Sgt. (PCMS) to Police Executive Master Sgt. (PEMS).
  • Five from Police Senior Master Sgt. (PSMS) to PCMS.
  • 27 from Police Master Sgt. (PMSg) to PSMS.
  • 76 from Police Staff Sgt. (PSSg) to PMSg.
  • 10 from Police Corporal (PCpl) to PSSg.
  • 79 from Patrolman to PCpl.

In his keynote speech, Col. Coronica reminded the newly promoted officers that higher ranks come with greater expectations and responsibilities.

He emphasized the importance of stepping out of comfort zones and embracing new roles and potential reassignments, which are essential for leadership development and professional growth.

“These promotions are a testament to your dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to the core values of the Philippine National Police (PNP),” Coronica said.

“May you continue to serve with honor, integrity, and excellence, living up to the noble calling of law enforcement,” he added.

At Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City, Nocppo Director Col. Rainerio De Chavez led the promotion ceremony at the Kanlaon Hall.

In Negros Oriental, Police Lt. Col. Bonifacio Tecson, deputy provincial director for administration, presided over the event for the 274 promotees at the provincial police headquarters parade grounds.

Norppo reported that the ceremony recognized the hard work and readiness of officers for greater responsibilities. Families and loved ones attended, making the event more meaningful for the newly promoted personnel.

Norppo highlighted that such traditions inspire other personnel to strive for excellence, knowing their dedication will be rewarded.

Promotions at Nocppo also included personnel from PNP support units, including:

  • Four from the PNP Aviation Group.
  • Two from the Anti-Kidnapping Group.
  • Six from the Maritime Group.
  • Two from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
  • 38 from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB).
