The Iloilo Police Provincial Office accosted 108 violators of the Curfew Ordinance since March 21 to 25, 2020 in relation to the community quarantine against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The violators were apprehended outside their houses between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m., which is the curfew period mandated by Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-220.
The ordinance “Implementing Curfew Hours in Entire Province of Iloilo as a Measure to Address the Continuous Threat of Transmission of the COVID-19″ took effect March 21.
The violators of the curfew were endorsed to the officials of the barangays where they reside.
Meanwhile, seven violators from Carles and Estancia towns will face criminal charges after resisting and disobeying police officers who implemented the curfew.
Colonel Paul Kenneth Lucas, Iloilo PPO director, reiterated to stations chiefs the strict enforcement of ordinance.
“This is one measure to prevent the spread and affectation of COVID-19; we should sternly implement it,” he said.
Lucas also enjoined the public to follow the curfew and other measures being laid down by the government to contain the threat of COVID-19.
“Do not be stubborn. Rather be more understanding and cooperative. While this may cause you a little inconvenience, the measures we implement are for the protection of everyone,” he said.
