BACOLOD City – Seventeen persons who used drugs (PWUDs) in two villages in Valladolid, Negros Occidental completed their four-week Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) last Sunday.

Police Captain Joseth Catonina, town police chief, said the PWUDs were from Barangays Batuan and Pacol.

The rehabilitation program was funded by the local government unit, wherein PWUDs‘ degree of usage of illegal drugs were evaluated by doctors, and they were taught about the bad effects of illegal drugs and strengthened their spiritual intervention, Catonina said.

Catonina said the PWUDs, who were formerly called drug surrenderers also underwent three drug tests where they all yielded negative in the series of tests.

After completing the rehabilitation program, authorities will continue to monitor them to check if they indeed stopped their engagement in drugs, he added.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Occidental lauded the graduates, who have successfully completed the sessions of their rehabilitation.

They will be properly turned-over for after-care monitoring program.
