The 21st Panubli-on Heritage Fair opened on Wednesday, Nov. 13, bringing together 185 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Western Visayas and Negros Occidental to celebrate “The Power of Local Creativity.”
Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6, the fair highlights locally crafted products that reflect the region’s rich heritage and creativity.
In her opening remarks, DTI-6 Regional Director Rachel Nufable underscored the fair’s role in supporting MSMEs and preserving local traditions.
“Since its establishment in 2003, Panubli-on has become the gold standard for quality craftsmanship and innovation in Western Visayas,” Nufable said.
She noted that the term “Panubli-on,” meaning “heritage,” serves as a reminder of the responsibility to uphold and evolve the region’s cultural legacy.
The fair features six pavilions representing each province, with 36 exhibitors from Iloilo, 34 from Negros, 28 from Guimaras, 24 from Aklan, 15 from Antique, and 13 from Capiz.
Specialty exhibitors from programs like the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program (CFIDP), Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), the creatives sector, and the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) are also participating this year.
The week-long fair, running until Nov. 17, includes a lineup of activities showcasing local talent and expertise.
The SAGANA forum, beginning Nov. 14, will discuss food logistics trends and cold storage for agricultural products.
Other events include the TIRAW provincial food tasting series and the HUGOD traditional crafts demonstration, featuring local culinary and artisanal skills.
On Saturday, an International Culinary Exchange will be held with Chaozhou City, China, followed by the DAHA cook-off between PITO and Ilonggo chefs.
A food-tasting event, PAGTILILIPON, will also take place at SM City South Point.
The fair will close on Sunday with the Panubli-on Awards, recognizing excellence in product design, brand innovation, and graphic artistry.
The TSIKITING children’s fashion show and AMBIT gala fashion showcase will follow, highlighting regional textiles and design.
Representing Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, Velma Lao of the Local Economic and Investment Promotions (LEDIP) office expressed support for the fair, highlighting its role in boosting the local economy and promoting cultural tourism.
The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and DTI-6 encourages visitors to explore and support local MSMEs as the holiday season approaches.
