The Fray Luis de Leon Creative Writing Institute of the University of San Agustin College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education (CLASE) is now accepting applications for eight writing fellowships to the 18th San Agustin Writers Workshop to be held online on November 10-12 & 18-19, 2021 (mornings only).
The fellowships are open to writers in or from Western Visayas who are willing to learn the craft of poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and literary criticism from award-winning panelists, namely, John Iremil Teodoro, Isidoro M. Cruz, Alice Tan Gonzales, Dulce Maria V. Deriada, Noel Galon de Leon, and Criselda Yabes. This year’s Workshop Director is John Iremil Teodoro, with Isidoro M. Cruz and May Anne T. Jaro as Project Director and Deputy Project Director, respectively.
The workshop is conducted by CLASE under the supervision of Dean Nenelyn D. de la Fuente, Ph.D.
This year, three to four slots are reserved for Augustinian writers. One slot may be awarded to an applicant who is not from Western Visayas.

(a) application letter addressed to the Workshop Director;
(b) application form downloadable at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Bv0MJ9w-nmm1Qod_i6GvQa5q3sKnLLez/view?usp=sharing [with scanned colored ID picture, contact details (landline/cellphone/email address), curriculum vitae; Gcash account number (required); and parent/guardian’s consent for applicant to attend the workshop (for minors)];
(c) letter of recommendation from any faculty member of their school or any established writer in the region;
(d) any one of the following original manuscripts sent as Word file (Times New Roman, 12 points, and double-spaced): one short story; a collection of three poems; one creative nonfiction; one short play; or one critical paper.
Literary works may be in Hiligaynon, Kinaray-a, Aklanon, Filipino or English. Only complete applications will be considered for the fellowships.
The deadline for applications is October 8, 2021. Selected fellows will receive an allowance of one thousand pesos for internet use and snacks.
