1st ABB Digital Summit on July 26-29 to showcase smart buildings, energy efficiency

OLIVIER COQUEREL

Imagine living in a building that not only provides you safety and comfort, but helps you save on energy. It’s a building that is equipped with movement detectors, harmonious lighting, door communication, automated heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, and shutter management.

You never have to worry about having left the lights or air-conditioning on because they will automatically shut off when you leave your room. You don’t have to think about wasting electricity because everything is automated to save on energy.

Global technology leader ABB is one of the leading providers of such technology. Some of the most notable projects that the company has contributed to include the carbon-neutral residential neighborhood in Maennedorf, Switzerland; the New Development Bank (NDB) in China; the Calvary Adelaide Hospital in Australia; a residential complex in Lake Como, Italy, and more.

ABB’s smart building solutions are rooted in environmental responsibility and sustainability. It improves living conditions and, at the same time, makes greater energy efficiency possible.

Moreover, its smart building technology emphasizes on simplicity.

“Digital technologies need to be simple. It needs to be accessible to people. It needs to be seamless so your daughter or mother would be able to benefit from it, without being an engineer or scientist,” ABB Philippines Country Managing Director and Local Business Manager for Electrification Division Olivier Coquerel said during a recent virtual press conference.

As every building and customer needs are different (the needs of NDB in China is different from the Calvary Adelaide Hospital in Australia, for example), ABB provides flexibility in the design and implementation of its building solutions. ABB’s smart building solutions are perfect for homes, hotels, offices, industrial buildings, and healthcare facilities.

Not only can it power smart buildings, but smart cities as well.

“ABB has the technology to balance the power of a smart city that will, in turn, contribute to the comfort of its citizens and lessen noise and pollution. It will be a smart city that does not consume much electricity, has less infrastructure, and more space for green zones like parks,” Coquerel added.

The ABB technology has been tested and proven for more than a century. With more than 130 years in the industry, its expertise and know-how of building automation in electrical and mechanical building systems has been relied on by top corporations and governments all over the world.

ABB Philippines will showcase such technology in the upcoming ABB Digital Summit from July 26-29, 2021.

The event will gather global speakers from ABB, with special guest resource persons from different organizations and associations like the Energy Managers Professionals Association in the Philippines (EMPAP), Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE), Philippine Energy Efficiency Alliance (PE2) and Philippine Green Building Council (PGBC).

Key topics include Green Technology for Smarter Buildings, Mobility Solutions for Electricity Vehicles focusing on ABB E-mobility, ABB Power Quality Solutions, ABB High Efficiency Motors, and Digital Automation Solutions for Renewables.

The Summit will also be the venue for the launch of two recent technology solutions from ABB for the Philippine market, namely the Tmax XT moulded case circuit breakers, which guarantee an extremely high-performance level, simple to install and able to provide increasingly better safety and the ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor for Motors, which converts traditional motors, pumps, mounted bearings and gearing into smart, wirelessly connected devices.
