22 hurt after bus fell into canal on Christmas Day

BACOLOD City – A total of 22 passengers, including a driver and conductor were injured after a Ceres Liner bus fell into a canal at Purok Highway, Rafael Salas Drive in Barangay Balingasag ,Bago City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said the bus driven by Julio Talatag, 44, of Moises Padilla town, was on its way to Canlaon City in Negros Oriental from here past 8 a.m. when he reportedly lost control over the vehicle.

He swerved the vehicle until it fell on a canal.

Batusbatusan said all passengers sustained minor bruises and scratches and were brought to a hospital.

Meanwhile, Vallacar Transit Inc. (VTI) media relations officer Jade Seballos, said all passengers were provided with medical assistance and were all discharged.

Seballos said they will conduct a separate investigation to determine what caused the trouble.

The bus driver will also be investigated.
