ROXAS CITY, Capiz 23 persons were arrested and charged in court for violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.
According to Police Chief Master Sergeant Donna Asmod, Capiz Police Provincial Office(CPPO) spokeswoman, 14 of the violators possessed unlicensed firearms while 9 were caught carrying deadly weapons such as bolo and knife.
They were subsequently charged for violating the election gun ban violations and Batas Pambansa Bilang 6 or the law that prohibits the carrying of bladed, pointed, or blunt weapons outside the residence.
The arrest was the result of the implementation of the Tokhang Kontra Ginadumilian na Pusil. It aims to ensure that no individual roaming and carrying prohibited firearms and deadly weapons during elections period in connection with the Comelec Resolution No. 10429.
The violators are presently detained in the lock up cells of the towns where they were arrested.
