BACOLOD City – Only 25 of the 1,665 vendors from the three major public markets in the city who participated in the Surveillance Testing on Saturday tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the result indicates a 1.5% positivity rate.
Leonardia said the success of the surveillance testing “is attributed to the cooperation and commitment of the market vendors in our effort to fight COVID-19.”
Minimum health protocols are in place to assure the public that our markets are safe, the mayor added.
“Having this data now will help us assess if the safety protocols set in place by our market supervisors such as the wearing of face shields and face masks, installation of handwashing stations and imposing physical distancing, are effective.”
