BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 is aiming to conduct drug tests on 2,500 personnel every month.

This is part of the intensified cleanliness policy of Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, chief of Philippine National Police (PNP), according to a statement from PRO-6.

All members of the drug enforcement units are being tested every month to ensure the units’ integrity and worthiness to enforce the comprehensive dangerous drugs act, the PRO-6 said.

The regional headquarters said that internal cleansing includes maintaining the discipline among members of the PNP organization and getting rid of the scalawags and other personnel involved in illegal activities including personnel who are positive for illegal drugs use.

In April this year, two personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here tested positive for illegal drug use.

Both policemen were relieved from their units and were reassigned to the Provincial Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PPHAU).

They were restricted at the headquarters and were also disarmed, pending the investigation.
