Thousands of police officers and their families proudly celebrated as they donned and pinned their new ranks during a simultaneous promotion ceremony organized by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 on Wednesday, February 6.
The main ceremony was held at the PRO-6 grandstand at Camp Gen. Martin Delgado in Iloilo City. Other city and provincial police offices hosted rites for their respective personnel.
A total of 2,677 personnel from Western Visayas were promoted, with 2,562 officers coming from organic PRO-6 personnel and 115 from the National Support Units.
Promotions by rank included:
- 718 Patrolmen/Patrolwomen.
- 157 Police Corporals.
- 1,040 Police Staff Sergeants.
- 370 Police Master Sergeants.
- 99 Police Senior Master Sergeants.
- 192 Police Chief Master Sergeants.
- 49 Police Executive Master Sergeants.
- 33 Police Lieutenants.
- 19 Police Captains.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, presided over the ceremony.
During his speech, Wanky emphasized the increased responsibilities that come with promotions, including potential new positions or changes in assignments.
“Promotion speaks of our potential to take on greater responsibilities and do more for the PNP and the people we are committed to serve,” Wanky said.
He added, “By virtue of your promotion to the next higher rank, many of you will be reassigned to new units or designated to new positions. You must have known these consequences prior to your application for promotion, and you dared to face them. Truly, I admire you for being bold and courageous.”
Wanky expressed gratitude to the Promotion Board and all individuals involved in the successful promotion process. He also acknowledged the families and loved ones of the newly promoted police officers for their unwavering support.
