285 persons evacuated in Talisay due to flooding

BACOLOD City – About 92 families composed of 285 individuals were evacuated in two villages in Talisay City, Negros Occidental due to flooding caused by a downpour yesterday.

Based on the initial data from the city government, 62 families composed of 165 persons were rescued in Barangay Dos Hermanas, while 30 families composed of 120 individuals were evacuated in Barangay Zone 8, as of 12 noon.

The local government unit has been monitoring the water level especially in areas proximal to river channels and flood prone areas since early Monday.

The city government has already provided assistance to the evacuees.

Last month, series of flashfloods brought by heavy rains displaced thousands of residents in the city, destroying several houses, agricultural crops, and some infrastructures.

The local government has already assessed measures to prevent severe flooding in some areas in the city.
