Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2nd Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Skateboarding competition was still a success at the Iloilo Public Skatepark.
The skatepark was filled with smiling faces and laughter as long-time skateboarding pals who weren’t able to see and hang out with each other because of the pandemic reunited and the Ilonggo skaters were again given the chance to be under the limelight.
Executive Assistant for Sports Mr. Rudiver Jungco Sr. graced and formally launched the event through his opening remarks together with the Iloilo City Sports Development Division.
It was all smiles in the venue as top local skaters in the City of Love executed their tricks and showcased how creative they are with their boards.
For the Class C category (18-years-old and under), Vladimir from Roxas placed third, Ronald second, while Marjohn Rusiana grabbed the top spot.
Meanwhile, in the Class B category, Jerson Chew did enough to land a third-place spot followed by Julz at second-place and Nathaniel Carreon clinching the championship trophy.
For the last category, Class A, Ken Paul Glaraga took home third place, Rheco Labuasas second, and Kyle Biñas was hailed as the champion.
Under the exhibition awards, Glaraga won the best trick rail, Labuasas for the best trick ledge, Biñas as the highest and longest ollie champion while Rusiana was specially awarded as the youngest skater to ever join the competition.
The event was organized by BUREAU headed by Sam Paguntalan, Ping Hurich, with the assistance of the Iloilo City Sports Development Division.
