BACOLOD City – Three former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, recently completed their basic education through the Alternative Learning System (ALS).
The graduation and moving-up ceremony with a theme “Gradweyt ng K to 12 Masigasing sa mga Pangarap at Matatag sa mga Pagsubok,” was held in Barangay Poblacion on Sept. 8.
The rebel returnees were taught basic mathematics, values education, skills enhancement, and reading.
The said initiative was made possible through the partnership of the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB), Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Guihulngan City, and Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC).
The Army said that they are now ready to face the higher level of education that will build the foundation of their future career.
It is a stepping stone to achieving their dreams, the Army said.
