3 nabbed, 1 flees drug stings

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Three persons were arrested while another one fled in two separate drug buy-bust operations conducted by the police on Saturday and Sunday in Pontevedra town and Roxas City.

The Roxas City Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) arrested early Sunday morning Reynaldo Bermejo, 41, Barangay Banica, Roxas City.

Recovered from Bermejo were five sachets of suspected illegal drugs, P500 marked money and cellphone.

The suspect is a drug surrenderer. Before his arrest on Sunday, he was also collared for drug peddling but was released from jail through plea bargaining agreement.

Meanwhile, two suspects were arrested in another drug sting operation at Barangay Tabuc, Pontevedra, Capiz Saturday evening.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit led by Police Lieutenant Mark Anthony Garcia and Station Drug Enforcement Team from Pres. Roxas, Pilar and Pontevedra Municipal Police Stations led by Police Major Christopher Candelario, nabbed Kir Niecho Dadivas, 22, and Aldwin Daria, 22, both residents of Isagani St. Brgy. Ilawod, Pontevedra, Capiz.

But their colleague identified as Jeffrey Dilao alias Lala, of Barangay Linampongan also in the said town, fled.

Recovered from the suspects were 18 sachets of suspected drug, P1,000 marked money, a cigarette box, and a motorcycle.

The police said the three suspects tried to escape on board the motorcycle but it accidentally crashed into a palm tree.

The suspects and the recovered illegal drugs were brought to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination. Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being readied against the suspects, including Dilao.
