The fight against illegal drugs remains at the forefront of the Police Regional Office 6’s anti-criminality campaign.

In a monthlong anti-drug operation, various PRO-6 units seized 8,681 grams of shabu worth PHP59 million and 3,161 grams of marijuana valued at PHP379,360.

The drugs were confiscated in 242 operations conducted from March 1 to 31, which led to the arrest of 301 suspects.

Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, said the force remains aggressive in its anti-drug efforts while also securing the ongoing election period.

“That’s why I’m commending all unit commanders and their personnel across the region for these commendable accomplishments,” he said.

The statistics reflect PRO-6’s commitment to eliminating the threat of illegal drugs in the community.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office posted the highest volume of seized drugs, amounting to PHP25.6 million.

The Iloilo City Police Office followed with PHP17.8 million, and the Bacolod City Police Office recorded PHP7.89 million in confiscations.

In terms of arrests, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office topped the list with 105 drug suspects.

It was followed by ICPO with 69 arrests, BCPO with 50, IPPO with 49, Capiz PPO with 10, Aklan PPO with eight, Antique PPO with six, and Guimaras PPO with four.

Meanwhile, Wanky urged police officers in the region to strengthen community relations and enhance coordination with government agencies and stakeholders.

“With their support, we can identify those involved in the illegal drug trade and hold them accountable for their actions,” Wanky said.
