The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 welcomed 360 new police officers into its ranks during an oath-taking ceremony held on December 11 at Camp Martin Teofilo Delgado in Iloilo City.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, presided over the ceremony.
As a seasoned officer with more than three decades in the police profession, Wanky reminded the recruits of the importance of starting their careers with the right mindset as they embark on their roles as protectors of the people and defenders of the oppressed.
“This is not just the fulfillment of a dream but the beginning of a transformative journey,” Wanky said. “As you take your oath, remember the responsibilities that come with it. Be teachable, grounded, and start right. These principles will guide you in becoming effective and honorable police officers.”
Wanky also acknowledged the efforts of the Regional Recruitment and Selection Board for ensuring the successful implementation of the recruitment program, as well as the unwavering support from the families and loved ones of the new police officers.
The 360 recruits are composed of 288 men and 72 women.
Their recruitment process began in the first week of October 2024, with approximately 2,600 applicants from across the region vying to join the police service.
Also present at the ceremony were National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Director Attorney Jerome Asuga, NAPOLCOM Assistant Regional Director Attorney Rutchel Hechanova-Espinosa, and members of the PRO-6 Command Group and Staff.
