BACOLOD CITY – Four persons were killed while another was injured after they figured in three separate road accidents in Negros Occidental last week.

In Talisay City, two motorcycle riders died after they rammed into the center island at Barangay Zone 1, Talisay City, Negros Occidental last Friday.

Police Lieutenant Cordero, deputy chief of Talisay City Police Station, identified the fatalities as Mark Rogen Las Piñas, 21, of Barangay San Fernando; and Kert Donguinez, 20, of E.B. Magalona town, both college students.

Cordero said that both riders were reportedly speeding when they met an accident.

Cordero said both of them were wearing helmets but they sustained serious injuries which caused their death.

In Manapla town, Amado Batadhay, 64, of Barangay VI, Victorias City died after a truck driven by Roland Hermanos, 36, of Sagay City allegedly ran over him at Barangay Tortosa last Wednesday.

Wounded was Reneboy Chico, 29, of Barangay 2, Manapla town.

Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, town police chief, said the truck was tailing a tricycle driven by Batadhay when the former vehicle allegedly overtook and hit the latter’s tricycle.

Batadhay fell on the middle of the road while his companion was thrown off the sugarcane field.

Batadhay died on the spot while Chico sustained minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital later that day.

Bermudez said that Hermanos was already released from police custody, following a settlement between the victims’ families and the truck driver’s employer.

In San Enrique town, Ronelo Chin, 51, of Barangay Poblacion died after he was hit by a Ceres Liner bus at Barangay Poblacion last Thursday.
