BACOLOD City – Four persons were dead while another was injured after they figured in three separate road accidents in Negros Occidental in the past three days.
In Binalbagan town, two men were dead after they collided with a dump truck at Barangay Paglaum, Binalbagan town last Wednesday.
Police Major Fernando Somblingo Jr., town police chief, identified the fatalities as Eddie Hornanero, 38; and Pacio Jeminez, 36, both residents of Barangay Libacao.
Somblingo said both victims were on board a motorcycle driven by Hornanero when they crashed into a dump truck driven by Joy Valente, 47, of Barangay Mambagaton.
Somblingo said the victims, who were not wearing helmets, were allegedly speeding on their way home from a fiesta.
Due to the impact, Hornanero was dragged by the truck while his companion was thrown away. Both succumbed to severe injuries while Valente and his helper were unharmed.
Somblingo said they are not sure if the victims were drunk or if they dozed off while traveling. He said the victims’ families and the truck’s owner are set to meet for a settlement.
In Ilog town, Joaquin Geneve Jr., 33, of Barangay Delicioso was found dead on the roadside of the village Tuesday after he got involved in a hit-and-run incident. He suffered injuries on his chest and left leg.
In Himamaylan City, Jeremias Blanco Jr., 23, of Barangay 3 died while his companion – Joliza Blanco, 29, of Barangay Sara-et was injured after they were hit by a truck driven by 24-year-old Ryan Mamac of Victorias City, at Barangay Aguisan last Monday.
Police said that Mamac allegedly dozed off while traveling and hit Joliza’s motorcycle.
Both victims fell from their motorcycle and Jeremias was ran over by the truck which caused his immediate death. Joliza was taken to a hospital.
