Four fishermen were reported missing and close to 900 individuals were evacuated after Tropical Storm Dante brought heavy rains and flooding in parts of Western Visayas.
As of 12 pm Wednesday, four fishermen in Pilar, Capiz went missing after their pumpboat capsized, based on the initial report of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).
Meanwhile, 18 families composed of 82 individuals were evacuated in Capiz.
According to RDRRMC, heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Dante flooded residential areas and rice fields in President Roxas and roads in Dumarao in Capiz.
In Negros Occidental, four barangays were affected, and 86 families were evacuated from their homes.
As of 1 p.m., 169 families composed of 527 individuals in the town of Balasan were brought to the evacuation centers due to flooding.
The Coast Guard Station in Iloilo allowed sea vessels plying from Iloilo to Negros Occidental, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and vice versa in its 11.a.m. advisory, but trips bound to Manila, Batangas and Palawan remain cancelled.
In a weather bulletin issued by (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) PAG-ASA Wednesday afternoon, the center of Tropical Storm Dante was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro (13.4°N, 121.3°E) with a maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness up to 90 km/h,
Dante is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.
Meanwhile, the storm signals in Western Visayas have already been lifted except for the northwest portion of Antique particularly the town of Caluya which has been placed under Storm Signal No. 1. (ERS)
