Forty senior high school students from Dumangas National High School visited the Iloilo State University of Science and Technology (ISUST) Main Campus-Tiwi Site for a fish processing orientation as part of their immersion program, which runs from February 26 to March 8, 2024.
The pre-immersion event, organized by the Office of Advancement/International Affairs and Linkages (OAL), took place on the morning of Monday, February 19, 2024, in the Social Hall of the ISUST Tiwi Campus. The students, accompanied by their facilitators, Ms. Analy Jerez and Mr. Julius Sazon, were warmly welcomed by key figures from both institutions.
Dr. Herman Lagon, OAL Director, and Mr. Julius Ruger Hermano, OAL Secretary, received the students. Dr. Joan Belga, Vice President for Academic Affairs at ISUST, along with Dr. Roy Villanueva, CFAS Dean, and Prof. Cjay Soliven, Fish Processing Specialist, provided insights into the immersion program.
Following Dr. Lagon’s orientation and career talk, Mr. Hermano conducted a campus tour. The students explored various ISUST facilities, including the fish museum, administrative building, clinic, university library, laboratories, and fish processing facilities, to gain an in-depth understanding of the institution’s offerings.
Prior to the orientation, the students were introduced to the school community during the flag ceremonies held at the school façade. (Photos by Mr. Julius Ruger Hermano)
