The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys)-Guimaras registered 4,165 Guimarasnons during the Step 2 Mobile Registration services conducted in the two island barangays of Nueva Valencia, Guimaras to help residents in terms of travel time and expenses.

“The PhilSys Step 2 mobile registration for the Island Barangays of Guiwanon, and Panobolon, Nueva Valencia started on Oct 25, 2021, and successfully completed on November 12 of the current year,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

“PhilSys Registration Team stationed in Cabalagnan as recommended by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nueva Valencia for it is the only accessible Barangay to cater registrants from the said two Islands,” she added.

Losare said PhilSys Guimaras took the opportunity to hold the one-time step 2 registration of residents aged 5 years old and over in Cabalagnan, Guiwanon, and Panolobolon to minimize travel cost and time on the part of the parents.

The Mobile Registration was successfully implemented with the approval and support of Mayor Emmanuel C. Galila who allowed the PhilSys Registration Team to cater and register residents of Barangay Cabalagnan, Guiwanon, and Panobolon, while residents of the neighboring barangays of Cabalagnan shall register in the Municipal Registration Center in Brgy. Poblacion.

The said registration center is exclusive for Cablagnan, Guiwanon, and Panobolon residents as per agreement with Mayor Galila, to control the crowd and in adherence to standard health protocol, she said.

Meanwhile, Losare confirmed that the PhilSys Guimaras has already registered 68,835 individuals in six Registration Centers from July 15 to October 31, 2021, translating to 82.68 percent of the 83,256 registration target despite a month of delay in the operation due to strict border control.

PSA-Guimaras expects to either reach or even exceed its provincial target by the end of November.

“Despite the declining COVID-19 cases in the province, still we continue on adhering to the health and safety protocols to ensure a safer and successful operation of the PhilSys Step 2 Registration in Guimaras province,” Losare said.
