438 hog raisers get P2.2-M cash aid in Bago

BACOLOD City – The local government of Bago in Negros Occidental distributed P2,244,000 worth of financial assistance to a total of 438 hog raisers in Bago City, Negros Occidental last week.

The distribution rites were held at the Marhil Covered Court in Barangay Poblacion last Thursday.

The financial aid covers hog cholera-affected raisers from Barangays Ma-ao, Busay, Lag-asan, Napoles, Sagasa, Dulao, Taloc, Sampinit, Abuanan, Poblacion, Mailum, Tabunan, Calumangan and Atipuluan.

Councilors Ma. Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Victor Michael Javellana, Carlos Mondia, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir and Joseph Colmenares, along with City Veterinarian Martin Samuel Manuel Torres were present in the activity.

Earlier, the provincial government allotted P10 million cash indemnification for backyard raisers affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).

Last May, a total of 5,509 pigs died in the province for various reasons, with losses amounting to P66,541,575.
