ROXAS CITY, Capiz – 45 barangays in 10 towns of Capiz were under water because of flooding brought by continuous rain since last week.
Based on the monitoring of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the different Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Offices (MDRRMO’s) 64 barangays were affected by flooding but it was reduced to 45 after the water subsided.
According to PDRRMO Head Judy Grace Pelaez, water has subsided in 8 barangays of Dumalag – Barangays Poblacion, Dolores, Sto. Angel, San Miguel, San Jose, Sta. Cruz, Sto. Niño and Sta. Teresa.
Three barangays in Tapaz town were also flooded and two in Cuartero – Nagba and Angub.
Pelaez confirmed that some barangays in Dao town remain inaccessible to light vehicles.
In Panitan town, 14 barangays were also flooded and 17 in Sigma.
On the other hand, 25 families were evacuated after their houses were flooded. But some of them returned home after the water subsided.
Pelaez advised the residents to be alert, particularly those living along the river and coastal areas, and vacate if the situation is getting worse.
