Five Ilonggo entrepreneurs received the “Inspiring Tourism Entrepreneurs Award” in the first-ever Tourism Summit in the country on May 6 at the SM Seaside Cebu.
The Ilonggo recipients of the award were Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida, president and chief executive officer of Fiesta! Favorite Souvenirs; Cedric Sazon, chief executive officer of Southwest Tours (Boracay), Inc.; Ed Roderick Cañuto, general manager of Ephrathah Farms Corporation in ; Reynaldo Villan, president of Bongbong’s Piyaya and Barquillos; and Henry Chusuey, chairman of the Henann Group of Resorts, who also received a special citation on Tourism Leadership Excellence.
The award presented by Go Negosyo, the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Cebu City Government, recognizes the entrepreneurs in the tourism sector who have contributed in promoting local tourism and generating job opportunities for their communities.
The outstanding entrepreneurs received a trophy which was presented by Go Negosyo founder and ASEAN Business Advisory Council Philippines Chair Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, Siargao Mayor Sol Matugas, and Panglao Mayor Edgardo Arcay.
Top travel vloggers and influencers were also honored for their significant contributions through their social media content.
The summit provided networking opportunities among tourism industry stakeholders and mentoring discussions for aspiring entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
