BACOLOD City – Police discovered two alleged marijuana plantations in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Monday.
According to a report from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, 300 newly grown marijuana plants and 200 fully grown plants were uprooted in Barangay Codcod.
The two plantation sites have an estimated land area of 200 square meters. It took six hours for the police, who travelled on foot, to reach the area
Authorities have yet to determine the owner of the alleged marijuana plantation.
The marijuana plants weighed 10 kilograms with an estimated value of P38,000.
The operation was conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-6, Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6, San Carlos City Police Station, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6.
The uprooted marijuana leaves will be turned over to the Provincial Crime Laboratory for examination.
Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, director of PRO-6, lauded the effort of the police operatives for their dedication and commitment in the campaign against illegal drugs.
“Continue your relentless effort and we can achieve more accomplishments if we continue working as one,” Dongbo said.
In San Carlos City, Junry Guitguit, 36, of Barangay Rizal was arrested in Barangay Palampas last Sunday. He is said to be a street level individual.
Police recovered from the suspect about 70 grams of suspected shabu worth P476,000, an improvised tooter, lighter, P246, and the P4,500 marked money.
