BACOLOD City Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Negros Occ. said more or less P500 million worth infrastructure projects were implemented in the town in 2018.
Mangilimutan revealed the information on Dec 30, 2018 during her State of the Municipality Address(SOMA) at the town’s public plaza.
The lady-mayor delivered her accomplishments in front of the Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay officials, employees, personnel from the Department of Education, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire, visitors, constituents and others, after the ceremony commemorating the 122nd death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal.
According to Mangilimutan, the P500 million worth of projects were from funds facilitated by the Office of 5th district Rep. Alejandro Mirasol.
Several projects were also funded by the local government using the Internal Revenue Allotment and local collections.
The projects included construction of school buildings, farm to market roads and others, water system and other edifices
Health and education programs were funded by the municipal government.
Mangilimutan also considered as one of her major accomplishment for 2018 the educational scholarship program, with the municipal scholars reaching about 1,000 since 2007 during the time of her father former Mayor Alberto Nicor.
This year, Mangilimutan said one of towns scholars graduated summa cum laude.
In 2019, the town scholars who are studying in free colleges and state universities will be provided financial aid because the municipality will no longer paying their tuition fees.
