ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Active cases of corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Capiz surged to 570 after 34 more persons were infected on Sunday, October 10, 2021.

Based on data released by the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the province logged 8,865 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic broke out, with 88.88 percent, or 7,879, having recovered.

On the other hand, 416 died (4.69 percent) after three more fatalities were recorded the other day.

Meanwhile, PHO provincial health officer Dr. Ramon Alex Nolasco confirmed that COVID-19 vaccines were 99 percent effective in staving off serious infections.

Nolasco said only one percent of fully vaccinated persons in Capiz suffered mild and asymptomatic cases of COVID.

With this, Nolasco urged every individual to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Capiz has vaccinated 150,801 persons, or 21.65% of the total target population of 544,670.

Nolasco said 36,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrived in Capiz recently. These will be divided among the 16 municipalities and Roxas City.

He said 5,000 persons could be vaccinated daily should the inoculation continue. Around 300,000 persons could be vaccinated by December this year.
