The Kraken has been released.
After almost a year of absence in the league he dominated, June Mar “The Kraken” Fajardo is cleared to play for the San Miguel Beermen for the next PBA season.
San Miguel Corporation’s sports director Alfrancis Chua first disclosed the development regarding Fajardo’s health after missing the entire PBA bubble season to fully recover from surgery.
“He’s okay. We’re expecting him to play next conference or this season. So far, okay siya. Doc George Canlas said may go signal na siya to play,” shared Chua.
The San Miguel Beermen badly needed the six-time PBA MVP’s talents throughout the season, later being eliminated by the Meralco Bolts in the PBA Quarterfinals.
The Beermen’s early exit from a conference they dominated for five consecutive years meant failure to clinch their sixth-straight Philippine Cup championship.
“Iba siguro pag andun si June Mar. Mabigat kung andun si June Mar. Mag-iiba siguro talaga kung ang nakalaban San Miguel dahil doon sa tinatawag na match-up sa malalaki,” added Chua.
Big man Moala Tautuaa did a decent job filling in for Fajardo but it wasn’t enough to see them through another championship.
This coming PBA Season 46 on April 9, expect the rejuvenated Beermen squad to become better with Fajardo’s return to the league.
