An elderly man was arrested for rape charges in Calinog, Iloilo.
Alias Salmon, 66, was taken into custody at his home in Barangay Badlan Pequeño on the afternoon of June 10.
He was apprehended by members of the Calinog Municipal Police Station, along with personnel from the 1st and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Companies, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office–Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU) and the IPPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 2.
The arrest was carried out by virtue of a warrant for two counts of rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A, paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 8353 in relation to Republic Act 7610.
The case is docketed under Criminal Case Numbers 24-2380 and 24-238.
Judge Redentor Eugenio Esperanza of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant on Dec. 23, 2024.
No bail was recommended for Salmon’s temporary release.
He is listed as the seventh most wanted person in Western Visayas.
Colonel Roland Bulalacao, officer in charge of the IPPO, said Salmon’s arrest aligns with the agency’s strategy to actively pursue and apprehend wanted persons.
He added that the IPPO remains firm in its commitment to deliver justice and bring closure to victims and their families.
