Even this COVID-19 pandemic can’t stop our Ilonggo athletes from dominating and excelling.

With the taekwondo scene transitioning to the online platform of holding the poomsae category, the different gyms in the “City of Love” also adjusted and in just a small amount of time, made waves in every online tournament they joined.

Just this August, 7 jins from the New Star Taekwondo School in Iloilo headed and supervised by Master Kim, made noise in the 2020 US, Florida Open 1st Online Poomsae Championships.

The competition videos were being uploaded right at the end of the day which the international judges score and later on ranked by points.

Under the New Star gym, Tisha Seth Escrupulo, youth category, Eunice Angela Castante, cadet category, Lorraine Grace Baydo, cadet category, Ella Marie Dagoco, junior category, Anje Grace Espanillo, youth category, and Clark Zed Abello, cadet category, all clinched gold medals to best all the other competing international foes.

Meanwhile, Therese Marie Parcon who represented the gym in the cadet female, 12-14 years old, nabbed the silver medal.

The New Star Taekwondo gym is located in General Luna, Iloilo, in front of BDO Bank.
