More New People’s Army (NPA) members laid down their arms and returned to the folds of the government.

The latest were eight former rebels who surrendered to combined forces of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police in Barangay Poblacion, Culasi, Antique on Aug 7, 2020.

All surrenderers were members of the Central Front and Northern Front of the NPA’s Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR-P)

Both Army and police authorities in the area facilitated the surrender of the eight rebels.

They were later presented to the local government unit of Antique headed by Governor Rhodora Cadiao and members of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist (ELCAC).

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said they will still assess if the eight can avail the benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
