THE Ballet Philippines outreach concert gathered 8,500 Negrenses during its matinee and gala performances last week at the University of Saint La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.
BP held a six-part ballet performance called “Celebration: Ballet Philippines’ 50th Anniversary Outreach Tour” on July 9, which was preceded by a lecture demo workshop on July 8, where 100 participants from various dance groups in Negros Occidental participated.
The event is under the Lakbay Sining Program of the Cultural Center of the Philippines- Cultural Exchange Department and in line with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CCP and the 40th year of its Outreach Program in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Negros Cultural Foundation, Inc.
NCF, the organization that runs the Negros Museum, is a member of Kaisasa Sining which is Regional Arts Centers of CCP.
Lyn B. Gamboa, NCF President said, “We are very happy to host Ballet Philippines in Bacolod as part of The Negros Museum’s advocacy to promote education and appreciation of the arts”.
This performance of Ballet Philippines included “Valse Fantasy”, a restage of Nonoy Froilan with the music of Mikhail Glinka, “Nocturne”, choreographed by Carlos Pacis with music by Felix Mendelssohn, “Vision of Fire” choreographed by Edna Vida and music by Ruben Federizon, “Langit Lupa” by Erl Emmanuel Sorilla and music by Amon Tobin and Dublex Inc., “Nutcracker Grand Pas De Deux” choreographed after Petipa and staged by Adam Sage and music by PyotrIlytch Tchaikovsky, and “Afterwhom” by Augusts Damian III and music by Jerrold Tarog.
The lecture demo conducted by BP’s Associate Director Ronelson Yadao together with selected members of the organization on July 8, was participated by dancers/performers from Poseidon Dance Theater, Kagayon Dance Troupe, Sagay National High School, Hiliugyon Dance Ministry of Luis Hervias National High School, Annie Marie Seva Dance Studio, Bacolod City College Dance Troupe, and Negros Occidental High School Special Program in the Arts students.
The Bacolod performance culminated the tour which was also brought to Mindanao and Dumaguete.
