Student-athletes from Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS) ruled the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation Track and Field Invitational Cup in Pangasinan City, April 1.
The Bacolod City-based school was declared overall champion in the elementary category and came in second in the secondary division.
After previously earning medals, Jade Cordova, Hannah Jandra Delotavo, and Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon captured three additional gold medals each in the elementary division, while April Anne Dealagdon added another two.
Aguillon, Delotavo, Cordova, and Ana Hermosura snatched the gold medal in the 4×100 meter relay, while Aguillon, Cordova, and Delotavo teamed up with Dealagdon for the 4×400 relay and pocketed another gold.
In addition, Delotavo, Ara Rahbea, Aguillon, and May Therese Gula took home the gold medals in the secondary girls 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay events. Rahbea also won gold in the 100-meter hurdles.
In other events, Klyde Montalbo won gold in 2000-meter walk and Luis Miguel Subayco captured gold in shot put.
Tay Tung team manager Jose Montalbo said the coaches have done their part in the event and the athletes really had the heart for the game.
“They did not lose their spirit despite the fact that they were almost not able to join because Tay Tung still had classes. Even when they encountered injuries during the tournament, they did not give up. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who believed and supported the sports program of our athletics in Tay Tung,” shared Montalbo.
