BACOLOD City Three persons were killed while nine others were injured in a road collision at Barangay Talaban in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental evening of May 9, 2019.
Police identified the fatalities as tricycle driver Kevin Jade Montaño, 23; and his two passengers – Faith Joy Hontiveros, 15, and Joshua Valdez.
Wounded were Jerick Orbena, 18, Robert Porras, 19, and four minors aged 14 to 17, who were all riding a tricycle; and truck driver Dario Pontino, 34, of Murcia town, and his companions, Roy Daguia, 40; and Danny Boy Sanny, 20, both residents of Bacolod City.
Lieutenant Colonel Glen Provido, Himamaylan City police chief, said the tricycle came from Bacolod and was tailing a truck when it allegedly overtook the vehicle.
Montaño lost control of the tricycle and collided with another truck running on the opposite lane.
The passengers of the tricycle were on their way home when the accident happened at around 7:45 p.m.
Hontiveros and Valdez were declared dead upon arrival at a hospital while Montano expired the following day.
Pontino is detained at the police station.
