THE University of San Agustin U15 basketball team is still undefeated in the ongoing SBP Chairmans Cup 2019 after notching its sixth straight win at the Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) Ledesco gym on May 23, 2019.
The Golden Eagles played solid defense to beat Passi City, 79-64. After struggling in the shaded area during their last match, Chad Ernest Cartel stepped in to contribute 12 points for San Agustin.
Agapito Clarito Jr. also chipped in 11 points for the unbeaten team of coach Jay Dan Delos Santos.
Fresh from winning their last game against PAREF-Westbridge, 57-54, Passi City was unstoppable in the first half with Hinze Paul Drilon converting shots in the paint.
But the Passihnon guards scoring run grinded to a halt in the fourth canto which led to their defeat. Passi dropped its record to three wins and three losses.
With the victory, USA grabbed the solo lead in the U15 division followed by Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) with six wins and one loss.
Hua Siong College also improved its 4-1 record after blasting Assumption Passi, 82-47.
Bing Conlu team is on fifth place with three wins and two losses. They dominated SBP Pototan, 82-41, courtesy of John Lloyd Casio Casios 12-point game.
Sta. Clarita International School (SCIS) Asia Link pulled off their second win in the league after upsetting PAREF-Westbridge School (PWS), 75-51. Lenmin Abenir scored 12 points for Rodel Camachos Primes.
PWS has two wins and four losses, while Assumption Passi and Flying Lizards have one win and four losses. SBP Pototan, on the other hand, is still winless after six games.
In the U12 category, CPC is still leading the squad with seven victories already. Iloilo Central Elementary School is on second place with five wins and a loss.
Hua Siong College improved its card to 4-1 after crushing Oton Templars, 84-41. Louie Joaquin Sandig scored 10 points, while teammate Ryan Paul Pico converted 8 points for the Red Phoenix.
Hua Siong is tied with Pavia in third place after the latter toppled San Agustin, 66-48. Johne Lijah Luke Rose fired 12 points, while Paul Kenneth Sandoval added 11 markers.
Oton sports a 3-4 win-loss card while Colegio de San Jose and USA have 1-3 and 1-4 cards, respectively. Passi City has one win and four defeats, while Assumption lost all of their six games in the tournament.
