THE Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division will fortify its strength with the recruitment of 256 candidate soldiers.
The newly recruited Army men and women took their oath of service in a ceremony held at the 3rd ID headquarters at Camp Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz on June 9, 2019.
The aspiring soldiers will compose the CSC Class 606 and 607 – 2019 after they finish a rigid Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) cross-trained with Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course (JWMOC).
Personnel from the 3rd Division Training School (3DTS) will handle the training to instil discipline among candidate soldiers and make them adept in military doctrines, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Captain Cenon Pancito III, 3ID spokesperson, said they will also be taught skills on basic weapons and Army Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) with the goal of preparing them to perform duties in the infantry squad.
“The training will also transform them into reliable, responsive, and committed enlisted personnel of the Philippine Army,” he said.
There were 839 applicants who signified their intention to join the service.
But Pancito said only the 256 passed the strict and meticulous selection processing standard set by the Philippine Army.
They underwent a comprehensive and very competitive selection process that include passing the written, physical, and medical exams, trade test, board interviews, and completed the basic clearances from various government agencies,” he said.
Meanwhile, Major General Dinoh Dolina, 3ID commanding officer, served as the event’s keynote speaker.
He also led the opening of the formal training of the recruits.
Dolina told the candidate soldiers that entering the service is not just another walk in the park.
“Soldiers and warriors are not born, they are made. Soldiery is not just about courage and muscle; you will also encounter academic, aptitude, and emotional challenges. You will be subjected to extreme heat and pressure in order to bring out the best in you,” he said.
As he welcomed them, Dolina also lauded their family’s support.
