BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Aug 8, 2019 urged the Yanson siblings to settle their dispute following the incident at the Bacolod South Terminal on Wednesday which has affected thousands of travelers to southern Negros.
Roy and Leo Rey Yanson are embroiled in a dispute over the control of the multi-billion peso Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC).
One of YGBC’s subsidiaries is Vallacar Transit Inc. which operates the Ceres Bus Liner.
Leo Rey was ousted by his four siblings Roy, Celina, Emily and Ricardo Jr., as President and CEO of YGBC more than a month ago, a move he labelled as illegal.
Lacson said whatever comment he will give will not help resolve the current squabble between the siblings and he has decided to be silent instead and let them resolve the dispute amicably.
But Lacson said he hopes the court, which currently handles the dispute, would resolve it urgently as the public is starting to get affected.
“If it’s allowable there should be a speedy trial to resolve the issues,” Lacson said.
The governor also said that even though they have made preparations for any eventuality, he admitted they could not cope with the sheer number of passengers who will be affected.
“I’m calling on the family, don’t let this happen again because you assured us from the very beginning. Please solve your issues amicably,” Lacson said.
