The City Government of Sagay in Negros Occidental recently conducted the tour guiding competition and tourism quiz bee in preparation for its tourism month celebration on September.
The event, led by the City Information and Tourism Office held these two pre-tourism month activities on Aug. 13 to 16 at the Sagay City Market Mall, where more than 40 schools participated.
Cutillar said that these activities are held to prepare the students that will represent Sagay City at the provincial level competitions that will be held on Sept. 13 to 16 in Bacolod City.
In the tour guiding competition, Alexis Layne Espino of Gil Lopez Elementary School was the champion in the elementary category, with Julea Ligalig of Alfredo Marañon Sr. Elementary School- School of the Future in2nd Place, and Faith Royoof Colonia Divina Integrated School in 3rd Place.
In the Junior High School Category, Andrea Kirstin Ramirez of Sagay National High School was the winner, followed by Lhaira Nel Grace Lasmarias of Bato NHS, and Shane Aurelio of Sagay City Eco Zone NHS in 2nd and 3rdPlace, respectively.
Russel Benignos of SNHS was the winner in the Senior High School Category with JemarkTipontipon of Bulanon NHS in 2nd Place and John Rey Gargar of MDM College in 3rd Place.
Technological University of the Philippines-Sagay student Shenna Grace Broga was the champion in the college category, with Shena Marie Guardiana of Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology in 2nd Place and Mary Rose Esmeña of Universal School of Applied Technology in 3rd Place.
The contestants in the tour guiding competition were asked to simulate a tour to a group of tourists of a randomly selected place in Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, School of the Future Student Orion Leigh Delea was the champion in the tourism quiz bee- Elementary Category, followed by Jelyn Potestad of Tu-ong ES in 2nd Place, and Heart Plotenia of Bato Central ES in 3rd Place.
In the Junior High School category, BATO NHS student Gerro Lloyd Abadinas was declared the winner, Shera Mae De Asis and Rosemarie Takeda, both from SNHS placed second and third place, respectively.
SNHS student Neil Bryan Nedamo was the winner in the Senior High School category with Rey Mark Jade of Colonia Divina IS in 2nd Place, and Nina Jarabelo of Eusebio Lopez Integrated School in 3rd Place.
USAT student Jinky Madrigal was declared champion in the collegiate category while NONESCOST’s Jude Magbulongtong and Jumeriano Mahinayin the second and third place, respectively.
