1st Mayor’s Inland Fishing Tournament a success

Over 50 participants graced the first Mayor Jerry P. Treñas Inland Fishing Tournament that was held at the La Paz lagoon last September 28, 2019.

Being the first inland fishing tournament by the Iloilo city government, Executive Assistant for Sports Rudiver Jungco Sr. was pleased and thankful for those who supported the event.

“Sadya gid ang natabo sang Sabado. Over singkwenta ka mga pumuluyo sang Iloilo ang nagpa-La Paz kag nag-intra sa aton fishing tournament kag grabe gid ang kalipay ko in behalf of the Iloilo City government and the Iloilo City Sports and Development Division,” Jungco told Daily Guardian.

Marvin Balenia won 5^th place honors, Sherwin Balenia was 4^th, Jesus Alcain was 3^rd, Rodolfo Superal was 2^nd, and the champion was Rodolfo Bayotas.

5^th and 4^th placers were awarded 500 pesos cash prize, 3^rd placer with 1,000 pesos, 2^nd with 2,000 pesos and the champion with 3,000 pesos.

The fishing enthusiasts caught Tilapia mostly, with the winner’s catch weighing over 1 kilo.
