BACOLOD City – Two persons died in separate shooting and stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental Sunday, October 6.
In La Castellana town, Christian Jade Hernaez, 28, of Barangay Sag-ang was found dead at the said village.
Police records showed that the victim was walking on his way home from a vigil when he was allegedly shot by an unidentified man early Sunday.
The victim was later found lying on the ground with a lone gunshot wound on his chest. He was also reportedly holding a nine-inch knife on his right hand.
Police recovered from the scene a fired slug of an unknown firearm.
In Bago City, Eddie Mariano, 36, of Barangay Abuanan was allegedly stabbed to death by Rommel Manalo, 25, of the said village, following a commotion between them.
Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, city police chief, said Mariano and Manalo were having a drinking session in front of the latter’s house, along with two other companions, when a heated argument ensued between them.
Manalo’s partner pacified their misunderstanding and advised him to go inside their house. However, Mariano allegedly punched him on his face, which triggered Manalo to get a knife from the table and allegedly stabbed the victim.
Mariano was declared dead at a hospital while Manalo surrendered to the village watchmen.
Manalo then was turned over to Bago City Police Station for custody. The 11-inch knife used in the crime was also surrendered to the police.
