After a scintillating opening title defense in the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcantara against a tough Philippine Air Force FC, 5-0, Kaya FC-Iloilo is looking to sustain the momentum against Stallion Laguna FC as they square up on November 6, 2019.
The dominating win against Air Force was a clinic on lockdown defense and firepower, as four Kaya members scored – Jayson Panhay, Kenshiro Daniels, Connor Tacagni, and Marwin Angeles.
It was the first time that the champs ran over their opponents without their main gunner, Jordan Mintah.
Kaya showed they could make up for Mintah’s absence by sharing the load on offense. The win also proved to doubters that the team is not all about Mintah with other players stepping up to the task.
The 2019 PFL Season ended unfavorably for the Copa titleholders as they lost their last game to their ultimate rivals, the Ceres-Negros FC, and they are looking to bounce back and win the cup again with laser focus and sheer will.
Their next task will be up against the Stallion FC, a team they swept during the PFL season, albeit winning by narrow margins.
Taking pride in their pesky defense and their tough backline, Stallion FC will again try to halt the offensive artillery of Kaya.
