BACOLOD City – Two unidentified male persons died in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Talisay and Kabankalan in Negros Occidental the past two days.
In Kabankalan City, a body of a man was found in a sugarcane field at Barangay Camingawan early Wednesday morning.
Police Chief Master Sergeant Roger Toledo, investigator of Kabankalan City Police Station, said a resident heard six gunshots Tuesday night. They later discovered the victim around 5:30 a.m. the following day.
Police recovered from the scene three fired cartridge cases of .45 caliber ammunition.
Toledo said the victim was not a resident of Camingawan.
“We heard that he was from Mabinay, Negros Oriental, so he was probably brought to Kabankalan City, and was killed there,” Toledo said.
According to some witnesses, a sports utility vehicle with more than three unidentified armed men were seen in the area a night before the victim was found.
Toledo said they have yet to establish the motive for the killing.
Meanwhile, in Talisay City, a man who allegedly abducted by unidentified persons was found dead inside a car near a sugarcane field at Barangay Zone 15 Tuesday.
Police Major Jigger Gimeno, city police chief, said they have information on the victim’s identity but they are still verifying it.
The victim, who suffered a gunshot wound in the head, wore a white shirt and red shorts, around 5 feet and 4 inches tall, and between 30 to 38 years old. The car bore three bullet holes.
Gimeno said they received reports of an alleged abduction hours before the victim was found. But he cannot confirm if the abducted person was also the shooting victim.
Upon checking the name given by informants, Police Staff Sergeant Edmundo Jomocan, investigator of Talisay City Police Station, said the victim has a previous case for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The victim allegedly rented the car last October 31, according to records presented to the police by the rent-a-car owner.
He said they already have persons of interest but refused to divulge their identities in the meantime.
Police still have no lead on the motive.
