“It (Provincial Wildlife Quiz Bowl) is our way of educating our secondary students, including junior high and senior high for the K-12. Its main objective is to heighten their awareness on wildlife protection conservation because the more we know about wildlife, the more we appreciate our life because of our connection to the environment,” Olive Seruelo, Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) Information Officer said.
“So far, this is the fastest strategy when it comes to educating because they study and we don’t give them any tips so they should study a broad range of subjects”, she added.
The quiz bowl, hosted by Carlos Hilado Memorial State College and spearheaded by PEMO Negros Occidental, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Negros Occidental, Philippine Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc. (PBCFI) kicked off this year’s Provincial Wildlife Month with the theme, “Suba. Kon diin tanan nagailig. Tanan nga kabuhi nga nagakinahanglan pag-amlig.”
The 1st Provincial Wild Life Quiz Bowl started a year after the 1st Provincial Wildlife Month celebration.
