The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6, through its Iloilo Field Office, stepped up the holding of Labor and Employment Education Seminars (LEES) all over the Province of Iloilo for the whole month of November 2019 following the development of industry and service sectors that have opened shop.
The orientations covered recent laws such as the new Wage Order No. RBVI-25 which took effect Nov. 16, this year; Occupational Safety and Health Law (D.O. 198-18); Expanded Maternity Leave Benefit (R.A. 11210); and, the General Labor Standards with labor inspectors of the DOLE Iloilo Field Office serving as the resource speakers.
It was in different localities outside the city of Iloilo where new sectors, particularly stores that cater to retail have sprung up, subsequently creating more jobs in the towns where they opened.
Western Visayas Regional Development Plan of the Regional Development Council Region 6 for 2017-2022 saw growth in the overall economic performance of the region in recent years due to the industry and service sectors’ capacity to grow and create jobs.
Over 90 owners and/or management representatives and rank and file workers participated in the Program Orientations which were held at ABC Hall, Passi City (November 19); Bantayan Beach Resort, Guimbal (November 21); and RC Woodland Resort, Estancia (November 26).
