After the whistle, Justin Brownlee immediately put on the work and stepped on the gas with the plan of redeeming his scoring performance after scoring only 15 points in Game 2.
The star import was lights out from three and tallied 41 points, 11 rebounds, 7 dimes, 3 interceptions, and 3 blocks in their convincing 132-105 Game 3 victory in the PBA Governor’s Cup semifinals.
Coach Tim Cone admitted that he was seeing the game as a see-saw affair as both teams traded baskets early on and was aware that Northport was lethal in games like this but he’s thankful that his boys delivered and started to pull away late in the second frame, 64-48.
Brownlee was a force to be reckoned with as he displayed his dazzling array of finishes and isolation conversions, toying with every Northport defender even their athletic import, Michael Qualls.
Though Brownlee carried the brunt of the scoring load for the Gin Kings, Japeth Aguilar and Jeff Chan had solid contributions, scoring 18 and 17 respectively.
The undermanned Northport squad will look to bounce back and even the series at 2 games apiece to keep their finals hopes alive today at the Araneta Coliseum.
