The widening of the Iloilo East Coast Capiz Road in Ajuy, Iloilo is set to be completed in March 2020, according to OIC-District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office.
Enriquez said the P24.69-million project funded under the district’s 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA) budget involves the widening (both sides) of the 803-meter (1,646 lineal meters) road.
“This four-lane road will cater to commuters from Iloilo City and other parts of Panay going to the northern part of Iloilo, which leads to various tourist destinations like Isla de Gigantes in the town of Carles and island barangays in Concepcion,” Enriquez said.
“With this widened road, travelling to the beautiful spots in the north would be more convenient, more enjoyable and safer. More significantly, travel time from Iloilo City to the northern towns of Iloilo would be reduced and traffic congestion will be lessened, hence, delivery of goods and services would be faster and more convenient.
The project is in support to the “Build, Build, Build” program of the Duterte Administration, thus, DPWH ensures the timely delivery of all infrastructure programs and projects.
“We make all necessary actions to finish our infrastructure projects on time, if not, before the scheduled date of completion or prepare catch-up plan in case there are delays due to unforeseen events like calamities and disasters,” Enriquez said.
Also, the district has completed the construction of a 2-Storey ICT Laboratory building in Sara National High School in Sara, Iloilo which cost P12.797 million.
A new covered court in the same school, which cost Php 3.939 million, was also completed this year. It will serve as venue for various academic, social and cultural activities of the school in its neighboring barangays. (DPWH-6/RPAIO)
