BACOLOD City – Acting Negros Occidental Governor Jeffrey Ferrer on Monday dared the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to double their efforts in the campaign against illegal drugs.
He said “they need to strategize more and double their efforts.”
Ferrer cited reports that PDEA and the PNP continue to seize big volumes of illegal drugs in the city and in some localities in the province.
“I think there is a need for stricter monitoring of the ports,” he added.
Ferrer refuted reports that the province of Negros Occidental and the city of Bacolod are the sources of illegal drugs.
“I don’t think that is true because there is no confirmed factory here,” he said.
Ferrer added that the province is just a “drop off point” but not necessarily a source of illegal drugs.
He also said that while he commends the PDEA and the PNP for their accomplishment, they must double their work in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Ferrer said the focus should be more on preventing illegal drugs in coming into the province.
He also said the PDEA and the PNP should focus as well in going after high value targets.
