Bacolod City- The two-day Ceres Cup (The Aftermatch) six handgun-stage invitational shooting competition sanctioned by the Philippine Shooters Match Officers Confederation (PSMOC) at the Negros Sports Exchange Shooting Ranger ended on Jan. 26 with the awarding of winners led by Vallacar Transit President and CEO Leo Rey Yanson.
Gun enthusiast Janette Gonzaga, a member of the Philippine team in world shooting competitions, acknowledged the support of Yanson in honing the skills of Negrense shooters by sponsoring the competition.
200 shooters in Negros Island joined the competition.
Gonzaga, who is the PSMOC Visayan Zone director, said “we are being respected by the shooting community because we have been producing good quality shooters.”
In 2019, Gonzaga said their gun club was declared world champion in shotgun category in France, two decades after Philippines also got a gold medal in 1999 in world shooting competition.
She added that they have been encouraging responsible gun ownership, as many Filipinos want to own and possess guns.
The winners of the PSMOC Level 1- sanctioned match invitational shooting competition were Aldon Jareno (champion) and Fernando Gonzaga (first runner-up) won overall (unlimited);
Jimmy Uberas Jr. (champion), John Michael Javelosa (1st runner-up), Jannette Gonzaga (2nd runner-up), PM Rojas (3rd runner-up) Capt. Rolando Banquilay (4th runner-up) in Stock H-Cap.
For single stack, Miguel Alesaje was the champion, Jim Calma was 1st runner-up, Yan Yan Ng, 2nd runner-up; Justin de Leon, 3rd runner up; and Crisanto Godaren, 4th runner-up.
For the double action/striker fire, Wilfredo Anglo was the champion with Michael Ku as the first runner-up, Martin Chua, 2nd runner-up; Cpl. Jerek Jae Areglo, 3rd runner-up; and Lt. Col. Adonis Rosales, 4th runner-up.
For Super Seniors category in stock hi-cap, the champion was Joel Chua while Wilfredo Anglo topped the Double Action/Striker Fired (DA/SF).
For Seniors stock hi-cap, Janette Gonzaga was the champion with Jinky Arana as 1st runner-up.
Jim Calma dominated the single stack category followed by Dan Agting (1st runner-up).
PLt. Col. Adonis Rosales was the champion in DA/SF with Erny Espejo as the 1st runner-up;
For Lady stock hi-cap, single stack and DA/SF divisions, the champions were Janette Gonzaga, Janice Original, and Bing Bing Calma, respectively.
For lawmen/law enforcement agencies stock hi-cap, Capt. Rolando Banquilay Jr. was champion, with Atty. Adrian Arellano and PVCpl. Raffy Estromera as 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.
In single stack, Crisanto Godaren was the champion, while PLt. Gary Buaron and Jim Ferrer as the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.
For DA/SF in LEA category, PCpl Jerek Jae Areglo was champion while Lt. Col. Rosales and SJO3 Lester Alcantara were 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.
For 45 Classic, Dan Agting was the champion with Randy Ramos and Andoy De Leon as the 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively;
For the match officers, Col. David Tan was the champion with Rico Quimsing and Rolando Nam as 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively;
For single stack, TSgt. Roger Villan was champion, while TSgt. Elmer Celmar and TSgt. Alberto Ayuno were 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively;
For Special Awards (Vallacar Transit Inc. executives) in stock hi-cap, the champion was Ric Bayhon, with Al Quin Castillo and Miloy Seva were 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively;
For single stack, Dr. Hernan Omecillo was the champion with Nixon Bani Bani and Grace Sealmoy as 1st and 2nd runners-up;
For DA/SF, Collin Derk Isidto was the champion, with Julius Entila and Clyde Berdin as 1st and 2nd runners-up;
For VTI employees in stock-hi cap, the champion was Arnulfo Catalan Jr, with Froilan Arquion and Rolly Cuevas as 1st and 2nd runners-up;
In single stack, the champion was Crisanto Godaren, with Janice Original and Louie Onday as 1st and 2nd runners-up;
In DA/SF, Charles Guzman was champion, with PMSgt. Raymon Abaring and Glomar Saliganan as 1st and 2ndrunners-up, respectively;
For Executives Limited 10, Ian Galimba was the champion with Dimple Tinapao as 1st runner-up;
For Employees Limited 10, Jojo Perez was the champion with Jeremy Seballos as 1st runner-up;
For Man vs Man, Miguel Alesaje was the champion with Jimmy Uberas as first runner-up.
The Negros Sports Exchange Shooting Range was further developed by Yanson, in preparation for the Presidential Security Group Cup shooting competition.
