SMB ended 2019 with a rough patch, and as the New Year starts the hits keep on coming.
After their practice camp fiasco that involved three SMB players being suspended, the team was dealt another huge blow as June Mar Fajardo went down with a fractured tibia.
Fajardo reportedly suffered the injury during a scrimmage in practice. Fajardo was attempting a lay-up when he fell to the floor in a heap and was writhing in pain.
For those who don’t know, the tibia is a large bone located in the front portion of the leg and is also known as the shinbone, the second largest bone in the body.
Fajardo is expected to sit out the whole year to fast-track his recovery, and will most likely mean he can’t be with his teammates during the majority of the PBA this year.
Fajardo’s teammates Marcio Lassiter, Alex Cabagnot, and Chris Ross all expressed their sentiments regarding their superstar’s injury, stating that it’s hard to see him fall especially that they are trying to get back on the winning track.
Also, Lassiter said that seeing Fajardo suffer an injury like that crushed his heart, for someone so good and so humble to go down is unfathomable.
Currently, the management is trying to fill the deep void Fajardo has left with the presence of their newly acquired center, Moala Tautaa.
Will the powerhouse San Miguel continue their winning tradition or will this be the end of an era?
